Philip Roth - Seven year old jewish boy in a family of 5 who lives in New Jersey in a primarily jewish neighborhood. He is a stamp collector. Earl a young boy that is friends with Philip helped him start his stamp collection. Philip is a young boy who is scared of the future, because of Lindbergh becoming the republican candidate in the presidential election. He is sheltered by his mother, but is well informed of the whole political crisis by his father and alvin.
Sandy Roth - Philips older brother. Philip looks up to him. He is very talented in the arts. He was quiet and serious. He is well educated with everything that is going on in the world. As soon as he found out about Lindbergh was the candidate he knew that he would become president, and turn America towards facsism. He drew Pictures of Lindbergh in his portfolio, and hid them away from his parents, cause he knew how they felt against Lindbergh. He feels that Lindbergh is his secret hero, but he doesnt like his political views, and what his actions are going to be if he were to become President.
Herman Roth - Philips dad, very political with FDR. He is very patriotic, and he very strong in what believes and he is also stubborn. He was given a new promotion in his job but after seeing the new neighborhhod that he was to live in, he couldnt have his family be the minority in the German neighborhood. He is very protective of them.
Bess Roth - She is the glue that holds the Roth family together.
Lindbergh - Lindbergh is the candidate running against Roosevelt. The whole Roth family are Jews so abviously there not going to vote for Lindbergh because he is pretty much the second Hitler in away and they don't want that to happen. So Herman is very political when it comes to Lindbergh being president he wont allow it but, he can't really do anything about it, he wants what's best for his family, which means Lindbergh not winning the election.
